The Government has resolved and directed the BWSSB to modify the BangaloreSewerage Regulation, 1974 and directed the apartments with more than 20 units on sites measuring 2000 square Meter of 21527 Square feet must have to install STP units within the apartment complex.

Naturally, the apartment owners did not comply with it, hence, the BWSSB extended the date.

The BWSSB has extended the date to install and run the STP units within the housing or residential apartment complex to October 31, 2016, but many of the associations are refusing to comply with the notification stating that it is not possible and feasible, furthermore, they claim that there is NO SPACE to build STP and demand that this rule must be only for NEW PROPERTIES.

The truth is this:

Most of the 20+ apartment complexes does not have the STATUTORY COMMECNEMENT CERTIFICATE AND DEFINITELY DOES NOT HAVE MANDATORY OCCUPANCY CERTIFICATE.

Their BWSSB connection and BESCOM connection is based on the original sanctioned plan, but the actual and physical construction is TOTALLY DIFFERENT. 

Many have `A` katha for the illegal structures!!!  A PARADOX.

Due to abnormal illegality, irregularity, violation, deviation and deliberate by law violation, there is no space left in most of the apartment complexes and none of them wish to spend even a single rupee for STP.  All their dirt and sewage must be treated by the Government and the Government lack both fiscal and technical capabilities.

Sewage Treatment Plant and Rain Water Harvesting is Mandatory in Bangalore for apartment complex with or more than 5 Apartments

The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), in its board meeting  approved the proposal, to make mini STP plants mandatory to apartments/flats with or more than 5 flats and Rain Water Harvesting , the proposal has been sent to Urban Development Department (UDD) for approval.

THE BBMP HAS ISSUED A CIRCULAR DATED 07-08-2015 REGARDING THE ACTION TO BE TAKEN ON THE UNAUHTORISED CONSTRUCTIONS IN BANGALORE AND DIRECTING THE JURISDICTIONAL OFFICIALS TO INITIATE APPROPRIATE ACTION AGAINST THE OWNER, BUILDERS AND ARCHITECTS AND FURTHER DIRECTED THE OFFICIALS TO MAKE A DETAILED REQUEST TO BESCOM AND BWSSB NOT TO PROVIDE ELECTRICITY AND WATER SUPPLY.

NO WATER AND ELECTRICITY FOR BUILDINGS WITHOUT OCCUPANCY CERTIFICATE IN KARNATAKA

THE GOVERNMENT OF KARNATAKA HAS ISSUED A NOTIFICATION TO THE BESCOM AND BWSSB NOT TO PROVIDE ELECTRICITY AND WATER SUPPLY TO THE BUILDINGS WITHOUT OCCUPANCY CERTIFICATE FROM THE APPROPRIATE PLANNING AUTHORITIES.  THIS  DIRECTIONS HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE URBAN DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT IN ORDER TO STOP THE DEVIATION AND UNAUTHORISED CONSTRUCTIONS ACROSS THE STATE.

THE UNDER CONSTRUCTION ILLEGAL OR UNAUTHORISED BUILDINGS WILL FACE THE HEAT.

A proposal to supply caurvery water for public and private use - BWSSB -

In order to reduce exploitation of depleting groundwater, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is studying the feasibility of selling Cauvery water to private tanker suppliers who service most parts of the city, especially the newly-added areas.

The apartment blocks, which are being serviced by private water suppliers from borewells may be benefited by this scheme, if everything goes well. 

The BWSSB, following a suggestion from the Mines and Geology Department — was considering the pros and cons of selling Cauvery water from its filling stations to private suppliers at a fixed price. This will ensure that the water supplied to new areas was safe and free from contamination, the official said.

The BWSSB, which draws 1,350 million litres of water a day (mld) from all stages of Cauvery Water Supply Scheme, has been catering to the needs of residents in core areas. However, residents of newly-added areas (the erstwhile seven city municipal councils, one town municipal council and 110 villages that were added to the city limits) continue to depend on borewell water. This is because of lack of infrastructure (pipelines) and reluctance of a majority of residents to obtain metered connections.

Private tankers largely use water from borewells where there is no check on quality, endangering the health of users. It is also a major source for groundwater depletion. In many areas, especially those in east Bangalore and the new wards, groundwater is not available even at a depth of 1,000 ft.
