GOMALA LAND ENCROACHMENT CLEARED AT BANGALORE
Officials of the district administration on
Wednesday demolished an illegal layout developed by three city-based builders
at Yelahanka town. It was spread across one acre and 25 guntas of government
grazing land worth Rs. 15 crore.
The encroached land is part
of the 640 acres of gomala (government grazing land) in Jarak Bande Kaval
(survey number 1). The three builders had even created land ownership records
in their names from fake documents purportedly from Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara
Palike (BBMP).
N. Nandish, Revenue
Inspector of Yelahanka division, said the builders — K.T. Kumar, K. Ramesh and
Srinivas — had formed the layout by marking sites measuring 600 sq ft each and
sold them.
“Though this is part of the
gomala land and protected by the Revenue Department, the builders had acquired
1.25 acres and got the khatas (title deeds) from BBMP by forging documents,”
said a senior official of the Revenue Department.
The Revenue Department has
registered a case against the three builders under the Land Revenue Act with
the Mahalakshmi Layout police, he said. This is not the first time the builders
have done this, said a senior revenue official. According to him, the three had
encroached the same piece of land one-and-half years ago, which was recovered
with great difficulty.
Though the department had
submitted a detailed report and got the demolition orders three months ago, it
was put on hold until Tuesday due to various reasons, said the officials,
adding that the builders tried to get political influence to stop the
demolition, but in vain.

AKRAMA-SAKRAMA-LATEST NEWS-AN UPDATE - A NEWS REPORT - Karnataka govt drags feet on Akrama-Sakrama

Karnataka govt drags feet on Akrama-Sakrama
A NEWS REPORT IN TIMES OF INDIA
The final notification of the much-hyped Karnataka Town and Country Planning (Regulation of unauthorized development or constructions) Rules 2013, or Akrama-Sakrama (regularization of unauthorized constructions) is expected be delayed further, with the government making no effort to implement the law.
Though the election code of conduct has been relaxed, the government seems to be in no mood to issue the final notification till the poll results are announced on May 16. The draft was issued in December-end and the public was given a month's time to file objections.
Hoping the Akrama-Sakrama scheme would provide it with a ready trump card as it heads into the Lok Sabha polls, the Congress tried to push the final notification in the first week of March, but the announcement of poll dates on March 5 stopped the government in its tracks.
"The file is with the chief minister. The final notification will be issued after one more round of discussion with the CM and senior ministers. This will be done after May 16," urban development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake told TOI.
If the scheme becomes a reality, it will provide a one-time opportunity for an estimated 8 lakh building and site bylaw violators in Bangalore, and 6 lakh violators in the rest of Karnataka's urban pockets to regularize their constructions. The government expects to mop up Rs 5,000 crore in revenue from Bangalore, and a like sum from other urban centres in the state.

AREKERE, MADIWALA AND HULIMAVU LAKES ARE POLLUTED ! KSPCB REPORT
Karnataka
State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) officials conducted a mahazar (Spot
Inspection), following a complaint by RTI Activist Wg.Cmdr.G.B.Athri, Under the
provisions of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, ) of lakes at Arekere, Madiwala and Hulimavu
lakes on 29-04-2014 and found that
sewage had entered these lakes and notices were issued by KSPCB on March 20, to
the Bangalore Development Authority
(BDA), the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), the Lake
Development Authority (LDA), the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and
the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board (KUWSSB),directing them not
to discharge either the sewage into lakes and drains.
“Under Section 33 of the Water Act, this
mahazar report will now be presented as charge sheet before a metropolitan or a
judicial magistrate requesting the court to issue direction to these civic
bodies to prevent pollution of lakes. The Act treats the mahazar report as
recorded evidence, and this is for the first time that such an inspection has
been taken up for prevention of water pollution,” said Wg. Cmdr. Athri.
Housing complexes have sprung all around these water bodies, dispensing the sewage into the raja kaluve, valley and the lake and offering LAKE VIEW APARTMENTS. Very soon, (the apartment buyers )they will realise that the lake is filled up with the sewage and will start stinking.
Near madiwala lake, an apartment complex has sprung up, selling it as Lake View, (priced over Rs1.5 Crores each unit) (with free stink all round the year as GIFT) without leaving the buffer zone and it is alleged that some of the complexes have encroached the lake area.
